Boulder City Council Passes Resolution For More Of What Failed Them

The Boulder city council had to do something, I’m sure. After the mass shooting in a grocery store, the pressure was likely on for them to have to do something.

Unfortunately, the city of Boulder is a city in love with the idea of gun control. As a result, they’re calling for more of it.

Boulder City Council unanimously passed a symbolic resolution Tuesday that calls on state and national leaders to pass gun control legislation that they said would prevent mass shootings.

The resolution supports things like a waiting period of at least six days for gun purchases, universal background checks and a ban on assault weapons.

It also supports appealing the district court’s decision to lift the city’s assault weapon ban that was put in place in 2018. A judge ruled last month a city can’t ban the possession of assault weapons because state law says local governments can’t do that.

City Council members said that they ran the resolution by Giffords, an advocacy and research organization focused on promoting gun control, to get feedback on the wording of the resolution. They also said they have had discussions with state legislators about it.

Oh, unsurprising that they went to Giffords. Also worth noting, since Joe Biden’s ATF nominee David Chipman worked for Giffords for the past several years before being tapped to run the government’s agency overseeing firearms.

Giffords obviously wasn’t going to point out to them that Colorado has plenty of gun control already on the books, and they didn’t stop a damn thing. That shooting still took place despite the plethora of gun control laws on the books. That’s because criminals such as mass shooters don’t give a damn about laws in the first place. In fact, violent crime’s been rising in Colorado since 2013, which is when Democrats imposed their magazine ban and universal background check laws on citizens.

What Colorado’s gun control laws did was make life far more difficult for law-abiding Coloradans to purchase guns or exercise their Second Amendment rights while doing literally nothing to prevent this tragedy.

Meanwhile, Boulder is convinced that its gun control would have magically stopped it; like it would have put a forcefield over the city and no so-called assault weapons could get through.

Uh…no. That’s literally not how any of this works, but they’re free to be as delusional as they want to be.

At the end of the day, though, it doesn’t change the fact that gun control failed them. It failed to stop a mass shooting, the very thing these laws are supposed to prevent. We said then that they wouldn’t work the way proponents said they would and history has proven us right. Now, Boulder is doubling down on it and demanding still more gun control.

Well, if you’re not careful, you’ll get what you want good and hard.

The truth is, if they got what they wanted, it would lead to more loss of innocent life and have zero impact on the bad guys. We keep telling them that, they keep ignoring us, then when we’re proven right, they just do it all over again.

That’s the definition of insanity, and yet here we are.

Again.
