Neo-Nazis Behind Lobby Day Plot Also Planned Assassination

If there really is one group the right and left agree about it’s that neo-Nazis are vile. The main problem is that some on the left seem to think everyone on the right is some flavor of racist, which makes it impossible to find common ground even on this.

It wasn’t that long ago when a group of neo-Nazis plotted an attack on the Lobby Day gathering in Richmond, Virginia. Apparently, they hoped to spark off a race war. Luckily, they were caught before they could do anything.

Now, though, prosecutors say the plotters had other thoughts as well.

Federal prosecutors in Maryland are recommending 25-year prison sentences for two neo-Nazi group members who were arrested by the FBI ahead of a gun rights rally at Virginia’s Capitol.

In a court filing Thursday, prosecutors described former Canadian Armed Forces reservist Patrik Jordan Mathews and U.S. Army veteran Brian Mark Lemley, Jr. as domestic terrorists who prepared for a civil war and talked about planning an attack at the January 2020 rally in Virginia.

In the course of making those plans, prosecutors say the men discussed the viability of assassinating Del. Eileen Filler-Corn, speaker of the House of Delegates. Communications between the two men entered as evidence by prosecutors show they had obtained Filler-Corn’s home address and had contemplated attacking her on her way to work.

Filler-Corn is the first female and first Jewish speaker, which transcripts of the men’s conversation suggest may have been part of the reason Filler-Corn was targeted.

Let me be pretty damn explicit here: If you think someone’s religion or ethnicity is valid grounds to despise them, you need to go and perform anatomically improbable sexual acts upon your own person. Especially if you think it’s somehow justification to assassinate them.

These turdnuggets aren’t part of the political right, nor of the political left. They’re vile pieces of filth who wanted to kill people on both the right and the left in an effort to advance their agenda, which involves hurting millions of Americans because of the melanin content of their skin.

Their plans included slaughtering people at the Lobby Day gathering in Richmond. Those were Second Amendment activists of all ethnicities, religions, genders, and sexual orientations. Frankly, to find out they also wanted to kill a Jewish Democrat isn’t shocking, it’s just infuriating that people like this even exist.

Meanwhile, unfortunately, both sides will be blaming the other for these creatures.

Frankly, it’ll be interesting to watch this case proceed. While we hear an awful lot about racism these days, people like this are the actual threat but represent a tiny fraction of one percent of the population. Yet they can cause a significant problem in our country.

Luckily, they were caught before they could launch any kind of attack, either against Lobby Day activists or against Filler-Corn. That’s a win for the good guys no matter how you cut it.

These jackwagons will get their day in court. I suspect they’ll be convicted and get to spend a large chunk of the rest of their lives whispering sweet nothings in one another’s ears from the cozy confines of a prison cell.

As is only right.
