Biden White House brags about gun control orders

President Joe Biden ran for office as one of the most gun-control candidates in presidential history. Once he took office, we knew precisely what he was going to at least try to do, and he has.

However, all he’s been able to do so far are a handful of executive orders.

Now, almost a year after taking office, Biden is ready to brag about his gun control accomplishments.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki praised President Joe Biden’s first-year gun control efforts even though 12 cities, all Democrat-run, broke annual homicide records during Biden’s first year as well.

Psaki tweeted: “In 2021, President Biden took more executive action to stop gun violence than any President has ever taken in their first year.”

Yet, as Breitbart’s AWR Hawkins notes, there’s a little something Psaki failed to mention, as per usual.

Psaki did not mention that 12 Democrat-run cities broke their annual homicide records in 2021.

ABC News listed the 12 cities as:

  • Albuquerque, New Mexico
  • Austin, Texas
  • Baton Rouge, Louisiana
  • Columbus, Ohio
  • Indianapolis, Indiana
  • Louisville, Kentucky
  • Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
  • Portland, Oregon
  • Rochester, New York
  • St. Paul, Minnesota
  • Toledo, Ohio
  • Tucson, Arizona

Additionally, Chicago hit a 25 year high and Los Angeles hit a 15 year high.

Yay.

Now, I’m going to argue that I don’t think Biden’s executive orders had a damn thing to do with the high homicide rate in these cities. It just didn’t do much of anything, for the most part, so it couldn’t have had that significant of an impact in the opposite direction.

But it does show that absolutely none of these measures actually helped, which we were told they would.

Of course, none of us are overly surprised by this. This is just kind of how it goes, really. An anti-gun lawmaker steps in and makes a lot of waves about what all they accomplished with regard to gun control, all while ignoring the complete and utter failure that surrounds them.

It kind of sums up Joe Biden’s entire political career, really.

See, gun control isn’t the answer and it never has been, but you’ll never convince a certain segment of the population of that. They’re convinced that if we curtail just enough rights–rights they generally care nothing about exercising anyway–then we’ll be nice and safe.

That ain’t how it works, though. Safety is an illusion. You can mitigate risk but you can’t eliminate it.

And with guns, you have to look at both sides of the equation. Eliminating guns also means eliminating people’s means for self-defense. Since defensive gun uses outstrip violent crime, it’s safe to say that more people would be hurt than helped with such a ban.

But Joe Biden doesn’t care about that.

See, we live in a world where politicians want to be judged by their accomplishments, which would be fine if those “accomplishments” were in turn judged by how well they did what they were meant to do versus how much intentional harm they caused.

Instead, just doing something is counted as a win, like with Biden.

Then again, I’m pretty sure Brandon doesn’t remember signing those orders in the first place.
