If gun control advocates get their way, what will happen?
Obviously, if they’re allowed to completely ignore the Second Amendment, we’re going to get a total gun ban the likes of which even the UK would look at us and think, “Hold up a sec, Hoss!” But would that be the end of it?
Maj Toure, founder of Black Guns Matter doesn’t seem to think so.
Toure said the Second Amendment is the foundation of liberty in the United States but as more restrictions are placed on gun ownership, we get closer to complete government take over.
“But that [U.S.] Constitution, in the Bill of Rights, is there to check government, not to check the people. But if we keep convincing people that, ‘Oh, this is for your protection’ or restricting the people, we’re going to create another communist regime,” Toure said during a recent interview with EpochTV’s American Thought Leaders program on Aug. 20 at the Turning Point USA Conference.
Necessity of Second Amendment
“The reason why the conversation about the Second Amendment and firearms is so important is that all of your other values and beliefs and all of those different things … if you can’t defend them, you don’t have them,” Toure said.
Exactly.
The truth of the matter is that the Second Amendment was basically the Founding Father’s insurance policy. It was the mechanism by which they intended to keep the fiercesome beast of government in check. Without it, there was nothing to stop a tyrannical government from destroying our basic civil liberties.
But communism? Is Toure right about that as well?
Taking a look around at what political discourse looks like in this day and age and the predominant flavor of tyranny sure looks like communism to me. Oh, they may describe it as socialism, but communism is what happens when socialism fully has its hooks in.
That’s especially true since those who are screaming the loudest for gun control are also screaming for a thousand other leftist policies that would likely lead us down that road.
With that said, though, I won’t pretend communism is the only evil the Second Amendment defends against, and I don’t think Toure was trying to say it was, either. Crime is just another form of evil, and I’ve seen Toure comment about self-defense before, so I know we’re on the same page there as well.
At the end of the day, you should always view those pushing for gun control skeptically, especially when they claim the Second Amendment is useless in combatting a proper military. Their defense isn’t that they’re not tyrants and have no interest in becoming tyrants? That should concern you.
And yes, any attempt at tyranny must control guns. There’s no way around it, regardless of what they claim. They know good and well that even poorly armed citizen armies would cause them countless problems, so they want our guns.
Now, to be fair, I don’t believe everyone who supports gun control is a tyrant in the making. Many of them are actually good people who really do think that some regulations will make people safer. They’re wrong, but they’re not evil.
The problem is the evil in their midst says so many of the same things, they can’t recognize it.
