6 shot to death in mass murder in California home

California has long been considered the most gun-controlled state in the nation. It has restricted just about everything it can restrict, but a few of those may soon fall if things continue on the judicial front as they have been lately.

As such, one would imagine that if gun control were going to work, it would work there.

A recent homicide, however, makes it pretty clear that awful people will still do awful things.

Six relatives were gunned down at a central California home in what the sheriff called a targeted and likely gang-related attack.

Among those killed in the “horrific massacre” Monday morning were a 16-year-old mom and a 10-month-old baby, Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux told reporters. Both were shot in the head, he said.

Authorities believe the shooters stood on top of the teenager and fired rounds into her head, Boudreaux said at a news conference Tuesday. Her murder was “assassination-style” and “egregious,” the sheriff said.

The other slain victims were ages 19, 49 and 52, as well as a 72-year-old grandmother, who was sleeping in her bed, Boudreaux said at the news conference.

Three people survived the mass shooting in the farming community of Goshen, the sheriff said. The 911 call around 4 a.m. came from one of the survivors who was hiding as the gunfire erupted inside the home, the sheriff said.

Police are searching for two known suspects, and possibly a third, the sheriff said. No arrests have been made.

“We believe that this was a targeted family,” the sheriff said.

I can’t imagine how horrifying it had to be for those who survived.

Now, law enforcement notes these murders are similar to what they’ve seen the cartels carry out, which may be telling. Then again, it may not. However, if it is related to the cartels, then we have to acknowledge that this is a criminal organization filled with people who generally aren’t able to buy guns lawfully.

Then again, since they’re in the business of selling drugs and getting those into the United States illegally, I’m pretty sure American gun laws aren’t really much of a deterrent.

The murder laws sure weren’t, regardless of whoever carried out this brutal attack.

I’m sure there are plenty of people who will lash out at me for talking about politics after a crime like this, but I’ll point out that anti-gunners don’t wait, so why should I? Yes, what happened to this family is awful, and we have no reason to believe anyone in this residence wanted to possess a firearm but couldn’t. That’s not the point.

The point is that gun control is said to stop horrible things from happening, but this story didn’t happen in Texas. It happened in California, a state that has all the laws we hear about Congress needing to pass. There are no signs they did anything to impact this crime in any way, shape, or form.

Gun control doesn’t work. It just doesn’t, and this is just another example in a long list of horrific murders that we’ve seen in states like California.
