Three Police Officers Shot in Gun Control-Loving Washington, DC

Our nation's capital isn't exactly a bastion of freedom. It's a gun control-loving city that routinely restricts people's right to keep and bear arms. The only move they've made in recent memory that could remotely be interpreted to suggest anything but a hatred of the Second Amendment was becoming a shall-issue jurisdiction well before the Bruen decision.

And they only did that to avoid that decision coming down years earlier than it eventually did.

They don't like guns, which one might imagine makes it a super safe city, if the gun control advocates are to be believed.

It's so safe that even the police are in danger.

Three police officers were shot Wednesday morning around 8:30 a.m. while serving an arrest warrant in heavily gun-controlled Washington, DC.

According to 6 ABC, the officers’ injuries are not life-threatening.

The suspect who opened fire then barricaded himself in the residence.

...

At 10:15 a.m., nearly two hours after the three officers were shot, Metropolitan Police Department Chief Pamela A. Smith said, “This remains an active situation, and the individual has continued to fire from that location. We are asking everyone to please stay out of this location until we are able to apprehend the suspect.”

Now, it does appear the officers will fully recover, which is the most important thing.

However, let's remember that Washington DC has tons of gun control laws. Pretty much everything the gun control advocates say that should be on the books if we want to keep guns out of the wrong hands.

In the wake of what happened in Kansas City, we know we're going to hear a lot more of it.

The problem with that other than it being an infringement of our rights is that none of this worked to keep this guy unarmed.

And let's be honest, this is far from the only example of violent crime in Washington. It's a rough city full of unscrupulous types.

There are also regular criminals there in abundance as well.

The homicide rate there has never exactly been in the acceptable range and other violent crimes are common. Yet, if anti-gunners are to be believed, that shouldn't happen.

Of course, they'll blame their woes on states like Virginia but that's just an attempt to shift the blame. If gun laws worked as described, then how could trafficking be a concern? How can law enforcement officers be shot while trying to serve an arrest warrant?

Gun control doesn't work. This is just one of a plethora of examples of how it fails, and not just in our nation's capital.

It fails pretty much everywhere, particularly when you consider violent crime as a whole.

However, let's not expect DC to learn literally anything from this. They'll keep peddling anti-gun talking points and pretend they're actually the ones being responsible, all while doing absolutely nothing to address the very real problems that create an issue with violence.

And until they change that, more people are going to get shot.
