Keane: Kamala Harris Will Be Just as Hostile To Your Rights as Biden

Out of nowhere, Kamala Harris appears poised to become the Democratic nominee for president. It's not a done deal, of course, because the convention still hasn't happened and things could change, but it seems likely that she'll be the one to carry the anti-gun standard into the election.

Joy oh joy.

And let's be real, Harris will most definitely be carrying that standard. President Joe Biden is anti-gun, but he looked reasonable during the 2016 primary compared to his eventual vice president.

NSSF's Larry Keane wants you to remember this.

The forces pushing in on President Joe Biden and hastening him to quit the 2024 presidential campaign won. Now all eyes and attention are turned toward Vice President Kamala Harris to pick up the torch. She’s the presumptive Democratic nominee until things are finalized at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago next month, but all signs point to her coronation as the Democratic candidate to challenge Republican nominee and former President Donald Trump in November.

Sure, there are some significant differences between President Biden and Vice President Harris. Most notably age, gender and race, but on policies – specifically the Second Amendment – Vice President Harris owns the entire failed and horrendous record she helped push along during the three and a half years of the Biden administration. And she could be even worse.

From the president deeming the entire firearm industry – all 384,000 hardworking and proud Americans employed in it – as the “enemy”in 2019, to his gun control executive actions and the creation of The White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention (headed up by Vice President Harris herself) to push gun control propaganda and all the way to repeating his call to ban the most popular-selling centerfire semiautomatic rifle in the country following a failed assassination attempt on former President Trump by a disturbed individual not two weeks ago, Vice President Harris has been in lockstep with President Biden with no daylight in between.

One place I'll disagree with Keane, however, is in how some of the anti-gun policies would be implemented, if Harris got her way.

Let's remember that her 2016 campaign may have included an assault weapon ban just as Biden's did, but hers called for a mandatory "buyback." No one would be able to keep their AR-15s, effectively disarming the American people in the face of tyranny.

The truth is that yes, she's very hostile to our right to keep and bear arms. As a prosecutor from California, she'll likely position her experience as a DA and Attorney general to justify this, despite a complete lack of supporting facts.

For example, rifles of all kinds account for only a small number of fatalities each year. Handguns are far more likely to be used for homicides and other violent crimes. Yet a handgun ban is politically unpopular, so that's not on the agenda at all. Funny how that shakes out, isn't it? Harris and her fellow Democrats will continue to go after so-called assault weapons because those aren't quite as ubiquitous as handguns, thus they're more likely to get one through.

But then, if they succeed, they'll just find another target and continue their long march toward disarmament.

Make no mistake, Kamala Harris is a menace to our right to keep and bear arms. She and her party do not care about the Second Amendment despite any protestations to the contrary. Her goal is to leave us disarmed and unable to combat the growing tyranny in this country. I honestly believe that if they get the AR-15s and AKs and similar rifles, they'll start going after the handguns, restricting them in such ways that they're basically useless, which will then allow other policies to be unleashed, knowing good and well no one can rise up to oppose them.

Maybe I'm wrong, but if so, there's no harm in defending our rights. If I'm right, failing to do so is the first step in national suicide.
