Throughout the nation, anti-gun lawmakers want to prohibit guns at polling places. They seem to think we shouldn't be permitted to exercise more than one right at a time.
They like to use a lot of language claiming that the presence of a firearm in the possession of a law-abiding citizen is some kind of political intimidation. It's not, but that's what they claim.
Meanwhile, for all their bluster and pontification, they don't understand the reason we want our guns when we go to vote? It's because there are monsters like this:
An Afghan national allowed into the US shortly after the Harris-Biden administration’s chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan was charged Tuesday with plotting an ISIS-inspired Election Day terror attack.
Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi, 27, was living in Oklahoma City on a Special Immigrant Visa as he took steps to stockpile AK-47 rifles and ammunition to carry out an attack on US soil “in the name of ISIS,” according to the Justice Department.
He entered the US on Sept. 9, 2021, just weeks after the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan and the last US troops departed from the war-torn nation.
The Harris-Biden administration granted more than 70,000 Afghans humanitarian parole to enter the US after the US exit from Afghanistan. The Department of Homeland Security’s parole program for Afghans allows migrants to receive two-years of legal status in the US, with the ability to apply for extensions.
It should be noted that, as someone here on a visa like this one generally can't buy guns. There are ways they can do so, but there's no indication that any of those conditions were met.
If they weren't, then he was acquiring guns illegally...and planning a terrorist attack, so I don't figure he'd be all that worked up about following our gun laws.
Look, I'm amazed we haven't seen an attack like this before. Every year, there are a few occasions when I get genuinely concerned we're going to see some kind of attack. Every four years, that includes some polling place, particularly at a peak hour.
I'm not worried about it being a shooting, either, because there is a lot of damage someone can do with a lot of other methods. This was a guy who decided to follow ISIS, for crying out loud. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be deterred by a lack of firearm availability. As already noted, he didn't seem to be deterred by firearm legality for him, so why would anything else be different?
Every time lawmakers decide we can't carry a firearm, they're not protecting us. They're barring us from protecting ourselves. Monsters like this walk among us. They're here, in our communities. There aren't an insane number of them, but really, how many do there need to be?
These people will not be stopped by gun-free zone signs. They'll be stopped when someone makes them stop.
In this case, thankfully, the attack was stopped before it could begin. The thing is, law enforcement has to get it right like this 100 percent of the time. The bad guys only have to get it right once.
