There are a number of pro-gun bills sitting in Congress right now. That's a good thing when you consider that they could not even exist.
The bad news is that they don't seem to be going anywhere.
Our supposedly pro-gun Congress is just sitting on these bills, which is a convenient way of killing them without having to take a potentially unpopular opinion with their base by voting against them.
But Gun Owners of America isn't exactly interested in just letting them get away with it.
Instead, the organization is calling for action, and not just from Congress. They're calling for action from you!
Demand This Key Committee Deregulates Suppressors and Protects Pistol Braces
Call the House Ways and Means Committee at (202) 225-3625 to save suppressors and pistol-braced firearmsI need you to take action and pick up your phone to defend our God given Second Amendment rights.
The Hearing Protection Act and the Stop Harassing Owners of Rifles Today (SHORT) Act, are stalled in the House Ways and Means Committee and we need your help to move these bills.
- R. 404—The Hearing Protection Act, introduced by Rep. Ben Cline, would remove suppressors from the National Firearms Act of 1934 (“NFA”), stripping away all regulation and eliminating the $200 tax stamp.
- R. 2395—The SHORT Act, introduced by Rep. Andrew Clyde, would prevent any future attempt to reintroduce the Biden administration’s unconstitutional pistol brace ban. The NFA was the actual law that the Biden Administration used to justify the pistol brace ban.
You helped deliver a mandate to President Trump last November and now we need the House Ways and Means Committee to help President Trump deliver on his campaign promise to restore the Second Amendment. Here is what we need you to do TODAY:
Pick up the phone and call the House Ways and Means Committee at (202) 225-3625 and direct your message to the majority.
This is a simple thing you can do to hopefully spur the committee into action.
Otherwise, it's entirely possible this measure will just sit there and die.
It's not enough for the House majority to not pass gun control. There's a difference between being anti-gun control and being pro-gun. At best, Republicans have shown themselves to be anti-gun control. That's not good enough. They need to know they have to pass pro-gun legislation if they want us to believe they support the Second Amendment.
Both of these bills do good things. The SHORT Act should be an easy sell, even if suppressors are too far from some Republicans. That one just tries to stop pistol braces from being restricted down the road.
Suppressors, however, should also be legalized.
They're terrible for criminals who want easily concealable firearms. They don't work like the movies suggest they do. There's no reason for them to be restricted at all when they're basically a safety device versus anything else, so yeah, they should be in every gun store in America and I should be able to walk out with a suppressor anytime I want so long as I have the ability to pay for it.
But they're not, and the House Ways and Means Committee is part of why they're not.
Make a phone call, tell them to pass it, and then vote for any primary challenger who takes on those who vote against it.
