'Bought and Paid For' Democrats Rake in $10 Million From Gun Control Groups

The claim by anti-gunners is that pro-gun lawmakers have been "bought and paid for" by groups like the NRA. They cannot fathom the possibility that anyone actually just thinks gun control is a bad idea. It has to be corruption or something.

But it seems that Michael Bloomberg is dropping millions to try and tip elections in a handful of states.

Try $10 million for a single election cycle.

Michael R. Bloomberg’s gun control organization, Everytown for Gun Safety, has announced plans to allocate $10 million in support of Democratic candidates for attorney general across battleground states. Led by Everytown president John Feinblatt, the initiative targets Virginia, Arizona, Georgia, Minnesota, Nevada, and Wisconsin. The funding will aim to strengthen democratic principles amid President Donald Trump’s time in office.

Feinblatt said, “They’re trying to protect the things that are in every basic textbook of American democracy.”

Feinblatt added, “We want to make sure that the A.G.s know that groups like us will support them if they do the right thing, and we want them to know that we have their back today and we’ll have their backs in 2026.”

This is twice what Bloomberg spent on attorney general races in 2017. In the 2020 general election, he dropped around $173 million to back Joe Biden in his presidential bid.

But none of these folks will be bought and paid for. Oh no, their motives will be pure as the driven snow. It's only pro-gun officials who are corrupt and at the beck and call of their financial masters.

Seriously, I understand that Bloomberg is backing candidates who already agree with him, just as the NRA and other gun rights groups back candidates who are already pro-gun. I get that, and I know that while these officials will be expected to do things a certain way, it was something they were previously inclined to do anyway.

The same as with pro-gun candidates.

Part of me would love to just leave the framing as it was and not explain it, but my sense of honesty won't let me. I know the truth, and you know it, too, though it would please me greatly to watch anti-gunners contort themselves to justify this spending as somehow different. I just can't do it because I'm not pond scum like a lot of them are.

They know the NRA is just backing people they agree with. They know that no one is being corrupt by backing the right to keep and bear arms. They just can't help themselves because honesty comes well after winning in their list of priorities, and that's assuming it even made the list.

Michael Bloomberg is throwing his wealth around, and they don't care. They love it because he's one of them.

I see the hypocrisy, though, and I loathe them for it. They should be loathed. They should be demonized for it. They should be forced to defend it with every breath, so much so that they never get a chance to actually advocate for gun control. They'll be too busy justifying the double standard that has been their stock and trade for decades.

That's what needs to happen.

I just doubt it will, all because the media is part of the lie machine.
