Anti-Gunners Can't Help But Make Manhattan Shooting a Call for More Gun Control

On Tuesday, Cam noted that anti-gunners were quick to start using the shooting at a Manhattan office building as a call for more gun control. It wasn't surprising in the least. Gun control jihadists have a long and storied history of grabbing hold of the latest mass shooting to justify their favorite policies. The only reason some of them wait until the shooting is over is that they don't know about it while it's still happening.

There's no shame at all.

And as time trots on, still more anti-gun voices will join the chorus.

For example, now we have the Newtown Action Alliance chiming in.

The Park Avenue shooting in Midtown Manhattan that resulted in the deaths of four people could have been prevented, according to the Newtown Action Alliance.

In a statement Tuesday, Alliance Chairwoman Po Murray said the shootings made it abundantly clear that military-style rifles have no place in American communities — no matter how rich and safe the community may seem.

“This mass shooting occurred in one of the most heavily policed cities in America, inside a building with multiple layers of security — yet it could not stop a man wielding a weapon of war,” she said. “A gunman armed with an M4-style assault rifle and wearing body armor walked into the same office building as the NFL and Blackstone — two of the highest-profile institutions in the country — and committed a massacre. If this can happen in the heart of Manhattan, it can happen anywhere.”

...

“It is time for Congress to finally pass a full federal ban on assault weapons and block the gun lobby’s #1 priority bill — [the] Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act,” she said. “No more loopholes. No more cowardice. We cannot wait for another mass shooting to finally act. Lives are on the line, and the bloodshed will not end until we stop weapons of war from flooding our streets and homes.

No more loopholes? What loophole was exploited here? The suspect allegedly bought a firearm lawfully, transported it to somewhere where it was unlawful for him to have it, then committed murder with it because he blamed the NFL for his history of head injuries. What loopholes were there in this?

That he could exercise his constitutionally protected rights in a different state, and no one searched his vehicle as he crossed the border?

I swear, they really love to scream about loopholes when all it means is "we think this should be illegal and it's not."

And no, it's not time for Congress to pass any assault weapon ban or some variation thereof. The issue isn't the gun. This guy, had he been denied that rifle, would have used a handgun instead. He could have done just as much damage with that as he did with that rifle, despite some dipsticks' thoughts on the subject.

But they just can't help themselves, can they?

It's like they've got some genetic abnormality that drives them to turn the bodies of dead people into a soapbox, even if what they're screaming about would never work.

Editor’s Note: The gun control lobby will stop at nothing to enact their radical agenda and strip us of our Second Amendment rights.
