Routh Verdict In, but Kamala Blames Trump's Gun Laws for Assassination Attempt

The first would-be assassin who targeted Trump became a greasy stain on a Pennsylvania roof, but the second guy managed to run before that could happen. Of course, he never actually got a shot at the then-former president. He got captured and arrested.

He was tried and now convicted.

But according to former Vice President Kamala Harris, it's really all Trump's fault.

No, seriously.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris suggested in her new book that President Donald Trump is partly responsible for the second attempt on his life at a Florida golf course in September 2024 — due to Republicans’ support for “lax gun laws.”

Harris made the claim in her newly released memoir, “107 Days,” while seeking to refute that Democrats’ inflammatory messaging has incited individuals to violence against Trump. The failed Democratic presidential candidate wrote that Trump should have blamed Republicans’ opposition to gun control in the wake of the second assassination attempt despite the accused man, Ryan Routh, illegally obtaining a firearm.

“Trump was quick to blame our campaign rhetoric for calling him out as a threat to democracy,” Harris wrote in her book. “He should have been blaming the lax gun laws he championed, since the arrested man, who had a criminal record, had been flagged by the FBI as being illegally in possession of weapons, including a fully automatic machine gun.”

“Despite numerous convictions, he’d obviously had no trouble obtaining a lethal weapon,” Harris added.

He was already prohibited from buying a gun. The people who helped him secure a gun knew that and still helped him. Just what gun laws would have prevented Routh from trying to take a shot at Trump?

Additionally, the SKS that Routh had wasn't a firearm that was covered under the 1994 Assault Weapon Ban, as it lacked a lot of the "evil features" that made a gun an "assault weapon" under that measure. So the gun itself wouldn't necessarily be difficult to find if such a law were still on the books.

Of course, Kamala Harris isn't one to acknowledge that maybe, just maybe, calling everyone a Nazi or a fascist might have contributed to two different people trying to kill Trump. I mean, if you scream someone is a threat long enough, sooner or later, someone's going to believe you. Harris and others called Trump an "existential threat to democracy" many times. Is it really shocking that someone tried to kill him a second time?

Honestly, most of what we've heard about Harris's new book is her trying to cover her own butt and failing to actually do so. This isn't really any different. As vice president for nearly four years before the first assassination attempt, it should be noted that nothing the Biden administration did--an administration she said she was part of every decision made, mind you--actually stopped either of these attempts.

She should probably sit down, shut up, and fade into obscurity as is the way of most former vice presidents.

Instead, she's trying to position herself for another run, and it's already shaping up to be a bigger disaster than any of her previous presidential campaigns, and that's really saying something.

Editor’s Note: Kamala Harris and her fellow Democrats will stop at nothing to enact their radical gun control agenda and strip us of our Second Amendment rights.
