'I Support the Second Amendment But...' Is Never Second Amendment Support

In the aftermath of Alex Pretti being killed, and a series of unfortunate comments from Trump administration officials, including the president, it's unsurprising that many are less than enamored with Trump. Yet the truth is that while he's said some things, he hasn't acted on anything.

Most gun grabbers claim to support the Second Amendment to some degree. The issue is that there's always a "but" in there.

The only time I can think of where "I support the Second Amendment but..." is legitimate Second Amendment support is when it's something like, "I support the Second Amendment, but I wish they'd left out that opening clause. It just muddies stuff up," or something similar.

Most of the time, though, it's no such thing, and we all know it.

Instead, it's nothing but subterfuge to make it look like the endgame isn't what we all know it to be.

During the recent unpleasantness in Minneapolis, a surprising number of prominent gun-grabbers claimed they supported the Second Amendment. Admittedly, they did this to lash out at President Trump and ICE, but they actually said it.

Gabrielle Giffords claimed to support the right of the people to be armed. “ …(T)he Trump administration has attacked the First and Second Amendments. Every legal gun owner should be horrified.”

Giffords burnished her credentials by reminding everyone she owns a gun. “As a gun owner myself and the leader of Giffords Gun Owners for Safety, I am alarmed by how brazenly the Trump administration is threatening our rights.”

However, in April 2023, it was Giffords who said, “Guns, guns, guns. No more guns. Gone.”

California Governor Gavin Newsom used a January 27, 2026, press release to announce his support for the Second Amendment. “We should all be outraged not only by the senseless deaths at the hands of federal officials, but also by the erosion of our rights. We must act fast to protect them and prevent any further tragic loss of life.”

Back in 2023, Newsom introduced a 28th Amendment. Intended to replace the Second Amendment, it would have eviscerated the right to keep and bear arms, turning it into a government-controlled privilege.

It’s only fair that we should ask them if they understood what they said.

Hey there, gun control fans! We’re always happy to welcome folks to freedom, but we wonder if you realize what it means to support the Second Amendment.

We're definitely happy to welcome people to freedom, but Giffords and Newsom have no interest in freedom, as we all know. They want to take away our guns.

Words are easy. Deeds are what matter. AS they say, "Deeds not words."

Through it all, Newsom, Giffords, and a host of others have stood firm on the side of gun control, taking steps to peel back the Second Amendment rights of ordinary Americans, all while paying lip service to supporting that same amendment. Giffords, as noted above, said, "No more guns." Newsom is trying to repeal the Second Amendment explicitly.

How can you support an amendment while also trying to repeal it?

Like the more pedestrian gun grabbers who mill about social media because not even their cats want anything to do with them, those who claim to support the Second Amendment while also vocally supporting limits on our right to keep and bear arms cannot be truthful in their 2A support. It just doesn't work.

Either that or they're so stupid they think that so long as anyone anywhere in the country can own a firearm of any type, the right is somehow preserved, even though "shall not be infringed" was ignored and gun rights were infringed all to Hell and back.

Unfortunately, that's enough for most of the people in the media. If they say they support the Second Amendment, regardless of what else they say, then the media will defend them as having no interest in gun bans, even if they explicitly call for gun bans. We saw this in the wake of Kamala Harris being tapped to become Biden's vice presidential candidate, where a post Cam wrote was "fact checked" as saying he was wrong, despite links for every quote he provided.

That was eventually retracted, but the point still stands.

If these people want us to believe they support the Second Amendment, then they have to drop the word "but" from that support. They need to support the right to keep and bear arms, even if you're not a fan of how some people choose to exercise it, so long as they're not hurting anyone.

If not, we have no interest in playing their silly little games. They're a gun grabber and nothing else.
