When a gun is pointed at you, you aren't going to take the time to measure the barrel diameter to see if it's a real gun or not. Especially with something like an airsoft gun, which has an 8mm barrel. Unless you can tell a millimeter difference at a glance, you're going to take it as a real gun.
Which means anyone pointing it at you, without you knowing it's an airsoft gun due to context--you're at a MilSim event where airsoft guns are used, for example--you're going to take it seriously and act accordingly.
So, when an Anti-ICE whackjob in Portland decided to use one in a drive-by, she put herself in a potentially dangerous situation.
An absolutely deranged and unhinged black supremacist and leftist agitator in Portland, Oregon, allegedly decided to do a drive-by shooting with a realistic-looking airsoft gun on live-streamers standing outside an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility.
She was pepper sprayed and lost her job for her trouble.
According to a report by The Post Millennial, a woman they identified as 28-year-old Isis Irving allegedly drove by the group of “pro-Trump live streamers” in her car multiple times Friday night as they filmed near the city’s ICE building.
At first, she just screamed profanity at them.
“She was yelling, ‘You Nazis, you fascists, f*** ICE,’” Thomas Allen, a right-wing videographer, told the Post Millennial’s reporter, Andy Ngo.
Irving reportedly lives in a nearby apartment complex, but was not known to be a regular on the activist scene, according to the report.
Later, she drove past the group again.
It was after she'd gotten out of the car, confronted the protestors outside the facility, and got herself pepper sprayed, then came back that she pulled out the airsoft gun.
Considering everything that had already transpired, if anyone shot her for that, it would potentially have been ruled justified. Yes, the confrontation wasn't exactly one-sided, but that doesn't mean threatening people with a gun is a smart idea. It's even dumber to do it with one that's essentially a toy.
This isn't the first time someone did something this flavor of stupid over ICE, either. As Cam noted on Friday, an Indiana man is facing charges after he pointed a shotgun at passersby. Frankly, this woman should as well, and if she is, she should be thankful she's still around to be charged.
I do not understand why extreme leftists like this think they can threaten others whom they think align with the right when the right is typically made up of those who support the Second Amendment.
In other words, they're trying to threaten people who have a higher likelihood of being armed themselves, even in progressive Portland.
If they want to do an Alex Pretti impression the hard way, that's a damn good way to do it, except there wouldn't be nearly as much murkiness as to whether it's a good shoot or not. Pretti's gun at least stayed in the holster, after all.
FAFO is a thing, and there's a part of me bothered that her "find out" included more than just losing her job, which was reported in the above-linked piece.
Of course, I also don't want to see anyone die, so I'll be satisfied with what I get.
