San Bernardino County Raid Shows Gun Laws Working Great in California

Gun control advocates would have us believe that California isn't the Golden State because of the gold rush in 1849. Oh no, it's a golden state because they've got all the right gun laws on the books.

And, of course, if the laws work as proponents claim, it should be a peaceful paradise where no one has guns except for responsible citizens...and Hollywood, of course.

To that, my question is, if California gun control laws work so swimmingly, then how in the hell was this a thing?

Authorities in San Bernardino County arrested 108 people and seized 25 guns and 2 pounds of drugs in one week as part of “Operation Consequences.”

Authorities served 16 search warrants during the raids, which were performed between March 16 and March 22. During the mission, officers made 63 felony arrests and 45 misdemeanor arrests. The seized evidence included three ghost guns, heroin, methamphetamine and fentanyl.

The multi-agency operation is an ongoing effort to reduce violent crime, target criminal street gangs and those committing gun crimes. The operation is set to continue for several more months.

Looks like the gun laws are working just as well as the drug laws are.

The difference is that there's no constitutionally protected right to become a meth zombie, live and crap on the streets, and make our communities into absolute crapholes.

But the fact that there were a number of firearms recovered, including at least one AR-style rifle--also a no-no in California, don't ya know--tells you plenty about how the gun laws work.

Not that any of this is surprising.

In my almost 10 years of writing for Bearing Arms, I think I've written a post like this a few times a month for every month. The truth is that gun control never stops the criminals from getting guns. If they can get fentanyl, heroin, and meth, they can probably get their hands on almost anything they want if they have enough money.

Hell, look at the cartels. They're getting full-auto firearms and rocket launchers despite that not being legally available over the counter literally anywhere in the world. They've got the money, and they have the criminal access. It's simply not an issue.

For these guys, they lack some of that access and most of that kind of money, but they had enough to arm themselves.

Meanwhile, California law makes it difficult for the good guys to purchase, carry, and even own firearms. Background checks for ammo make it difficult to train to protect yourself. They do everything they can to kneecap good people, but they recovered 25 guns from violent criminals, and the only reason they didn't recover more is likely because they just didn't find them.

Criminals in gangs often borrow guns from firearm "libraries," where they "check out" a gun for a while, then turn it back in after they're finished, so while they were violent criminals, the gun they used wasn't on their person.

Of course, the practice is illegal, too, but it's like people in the drug trade don't care about the law.

Weird, right?

California could be an amazing place to live. In one state, you've got so many different options for climate and environment, from rural desert to rural mountains, to large cities near the mountains to others in the desert, and miles and miles of coast.

If not for the idiotic politics of the place, it would be a virtual paradise that I'd give up rather important body parts to live in.

As it is now, you couldn't get me to live there with a promise of immortality and infinite wealth, both for me and my family and friends. I'd rather eat my own spleen out with a spoon, and the gun control laws are among the biggest single factors in that.
