Why Do Some of the Worst People Support Gun Control?

2026 hasn't been a great year for gun control. Oh, they might have gotten some state laws passed, true, but they've also seen something far worse than just looking at a legislative vote. In fact, I now have to wonder just what kind of people support gun control in the first place.

It started with a rare Republican gun-grabber named Tony Gonzales. For weeks, he'd been plagued by rumors that he'd had an affair with a staffer who set herself on fire. That's a terrible way to go, and usually someone doing that is trying to make a point, but the rumors were just that.

Until they weren't.

It turned out that text messages between the two made it pretty obvious that not just did they have an affair, and that affair ruined her marriage, but that Gonzales pressured her into that affair. He was her boss, after all.

It was a scandal, to say the least, and Gonzales dropped out of his re-election run-off race, handing it over to Brandon Herrera. He's still in Congress, as of this writing, but he's not going to stay, and a lot of people want him to go right now. That includes much of the Republican delegation.

Then we have noted anti-gun crusader Eric Swalwell. He was well on his way to possibly becoming governor of California. So well, in fact, he didn't bother to file to retain his congressional seat. I mean, he couldn't fill both, right?

Whether it was, as many speculate, that he was in the way or that someone had had enough, word broke that Swalwell had a sordid history, filled with sexual harassment and even allegations of sexual assault. Just like that, Swalwell was done. Sure, everyone knew already, but the voters didn't, and so everyone had to scramble to distance themselves from him, including Brady, who had long supported the California Democrat.

That brings us to yesterday, when former Virginia Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax, a noted gun control advocate, shot and killed his wife, then took his own life. Fairfax was the deciding vote on Virginia's red flag law, ironically enough.

It's only April, and three high-profile gun control supporters have made headlines for all the wrong reasons. For a party that prides itself on supporting women, two of these are members of the Democratic Party and haven't been very feminist in their treatment of the women around them.

For a bit, I've had a hypothesis forming. I didn't have enough evidence to call it a theory, really, but it's getting there.

See, we've seen a lot of self-described male feminists turn out to be predators toward women. They use politics as a screen, a way to get their prey to let down their guard, and then they attack.

Well, it looks like the reason at least some people favor gun control isn't because they have concerns about public safety and truly believe gun control is the answer. It's because they're terrible people who either want to kill others and know they can't be allowed near a firearm, or else they will, or they're terrible people who figure that if anyone is going to deserve to be shot, it's them.

We've seen numerous cases of projection from anti-gunners in the past. They threaten violence. They threaten to assault people who are carrying and then take their guns. They seem to have strangely detailed accounts of the perversely homicidal fantasies they think we have. They're clearly worried more about themselves than you or me.

Now, we couple it with the high-profile predators, and we've got an issue.

Honestly, of this trio, Tony Gonzales is the least vile one, and that's really saying something here. He's also, strangely enough, the only one who hasn't been as vocal about his support for gun control. He spouted it after Uvalde and voted for the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, but hasn't been beating the drum for it like Swalwell and Fairfax.

He's also the least deserving of being shot himself.

Not undeserving, mind you, but it would be homicide if one of his victims did so, unlike Swalwell or Fairfax.

They want gun control not because of public safety, but for their own safety. They figure that their own actions are vile enough to warrant being shot, and they don't want that in the least. They're no different than the predatory killers who pick gun-free zones to mow down innocent people in that way. They're just not going to that extreme with their own evil.

From now on, we have to consider exactly why an anti-gunner is anti-gun, and it can't just be as simple as what they say or even that they just want control. For some of them, it's probably that they're horrible people who desperately don't want to be shot by their victims, and that becomes easier if their victims simply can't get guns.

Now, we just need to figure out the percentages so we know what we're dealing with when someone pops off with their anti-gun hysterics.

Editor’s Note: The radical left will stop at nothing to enact their radical gun control agenda and strip us of our Second Amendment rights.
