Bag of Guns Found on Glasgow Street, Showing Just How Great UK Gun Laws Are Working

I don't generally talk about the politics of other countries if I can help it. I don't live there, I don't vote there, and I don't really understand their systems of government well enough to really comment on what is and isn't permissible.

But I will talk about what's right and wrong, and gun control is invariably wrong.

The UK has fully embraced it, and proponents from both sides of the Atlantic love to tell us how great it's working.

If that's true, though, why was there a bag of guns found on a street in Glasgow?

A BAG full of guns has been discovered on a Glasgow street.

The weapons haul was found on Tynecastle Street in the east end last night.

Firearms cops were scrambled to the scene after the alarm was raised.

Gun cops safely removed the weapons from the scene.

A major probe is underway to find out who dumped the guns on the residential street.

Those last couple of lines, coupled with one about how a cop is standing at the site where the guns were found, absolutely cracked me up. Was it a bag of firearms or an explosive device? Seriously, they were "safely removed," were they? By that, they were picked up and carried off like a gym bag, because that's basically how you "safely remove" a bag full of guns.

Now, we don't know just how many guns there are, but a "bag full of guns" suggests more than two, since "bag of guns" could be used for two and is easier to write. Then again, UK gun hysteria is a thing, so they might not have even really been guns.

Still, they were found, and police believe they might be tied to gang warfare in Glasgow and Edinburgh, which doesn't seem possible. I mean, gun control works, or so I've been told, and the UK has some incredibly strict gun control laws. It's impossible for there to be gang warfare involving firearms under such circumstances.

Or, are we to believe that they totally work except when they don't? If so, I guess that's technically true, even if it's also a roundabout way to say they don't really do anything at all. Everything works except when it doesn't. Horoscopes and phrenology work except when they don't. Communism works except when it doesn't, which is all the time.

I'm sure someone will be along soon to tell me how I just don't understand what's happening, which might be fair. I'm not an expert on UK politics or government, after all.

What I know is that the good people of the UK are disarmed while the criminals aren't. They're powerless against the people who seek to destroy not just their way of life, but them directly. That is where my sense of right and wrong comes into play, and this will invariably be wrong.

Yes, the media's coverage of this is amusing, but the fact that this is happening when we've been told a million times that we need similar laws here to stop our own criminals makes it a lot less funny over the long haul.
