Never Assume What Happened to Virginia Can't Happen to You

I'm guilty. There are a lot of times that I simply dismiss a gun control push and say that there's no way that particular state is going to embrace that particular proposal. The implication is that it can never happen, and that's definitely not something I should be implying. No state remains in stasis forever. There are ebbs and flows, and when big money weighs in, nothing is guaranteed.

And let's understand that when you've got someone like George Soros ready to throw money, and a complicit media that's all about keeping big money out of politics until it's one of their buddies throwing it around, anything can change faster than you'd like.

Which brings us to the Lone Star State.

“Soros Continues To Pump Money into Efforts to Turn Texas Blue,” Texas Scorecard reported Wednesday. “According to Transparency USA, Soros has already funneled over $1 million into the Texas Majority PAC. The federal American Bridge PAC, long aligned with Soros, has contributed $7.57 million to the Texas Majority PAC… The Texas Majority PAC exists to turn Texas into a blue state by electing Democrats to statewide offices.”

...

The bottom line is just because it’s Texas hardly means that “gun rights” can be taken for granted. And we’ve seen plenty of Texas Democrats making it clear that they can’t wait to eviscerate laws recognizing the right to keep and bear arms just as soon they think they have the power to make it happen, from Beto O’Rourke’s  “Hell, yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47,” to Sheila “Heavy as 10 boxes” Jackson Lee. And now, of course, Giffords/Everytown-endorsee James Talarico is vying for the Senate seat of outgoing Republican disappointment John Cornyn.

“Texas Gun Rights is warning that Texas Majority PAC-backed candidates, including James Talarico, Gina Hinojosa, Vikki Goodwin, Nathan Johnson, Sarah Eckhardt, Jon Rosenthal, and Clayton Tucker, support radical anti-gun policies such as red flag laws, raising the age to purchase guns, gun-registration schemes, and the outright banning and seizure of common semi-automatic firearms,” Texas Scorecard warns. And, of course, those aren’t the only radical cultural transformations Democrats intend to impose should they attain the power to force them.

Talarico’s in “a dead heat” against NRA/Gun Owners of America-endorsed Ken Paxton. And what happens in Texas will be a pretty good indicator of what happens in other states, especially noting “The Soros family has poured a staggering $103 million nationwide into the 2026 election cycle so far.”

Money alone won't suddenly make ardent defenders of the Second Amendment become gun control mavens. That's just not how it works. But there are a lot of people in every state who are more than a little lukewarm about most issues unless someone makes a case for why they should care. They're more open to the influence of the money someone like Soros or Michael Bloomberg can funnel into a campaign.

However, Texas has another problem: California.

A lot of Californians have fled the state for Texas because of things like crime and taxes, but then they bring the exact same politics that caused those problems with them. That includes gun control, naturally.

As a result of relocation and mass ad buys, any state can suddenly find itself swinging as Virginia did. That's especially true if the anti-gun lawmaker is savvy enough to hide their true intentions like Gov. Abigail Spanberger did in the Old Dominion State.

In other words, nothing is truly safe. It has to be fought every step of the way. It's never a sure thing that the next election won't bring massive change with it, including gun control. Nothing is ever certain from election to election.

So dig in, boys and girls. We've got a scrap on our hands.

Editor’s Note: President Trump and Republicans across the country are doing everything they can to protect our Second Amendment rights and right to self-defense.
