NSSF Calls Out Seattle Mayor's Double-Standard on Guns

I have no idea what the hell is wrong with Seattle. Just look at who they elected as mayor. I mean, a socialist trust-fund nepo baby is bad enough when he's on Twitch, but it's worse when she gets elected as mayor of a major American city.

But if that wasn't bad enough, she had to thoroughly step in it by revealing a double standard.

And NSSF's Larry Keane is calling her out on it.

Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson spent years advocating progressive policing approaches and public safety that went hand-in-glove with her gun control vision. Now, just months into her first term, an “impromptu boogie” is putting Seattle’s contradictions over crime and gun control on full display.

Mayor Wilson is facing criticism after appearing in a social media video dancing alongside Seattle rapper Y2K, whose other videos feature firearms, masked individuals, drug references and lyrics referencing a “switch” on a pistol. Machinegun conversion devices (MCDs), commonly called “switches,” illegally convert semiautomatic firearms into fully automatic machineguns. NSSF warns gun owners to stay on the Right Side of Legal™ when modifying firearms, that includes not illegally converting semiautomatic firearms into automatic.

Mayor Wilson’s office said the encounter was spontaneous and she did not know the rapper or his other content.

The irony is hard to ignore, especially given that Seattle is suing GLOCK because criminals glorified by rap artist illegally possess MCDs and install them on legally manufactured and sold pistols.

...

Here is the part Seattle’s gun control politicians repeatedly miss. A criminal possessing an MCD isn’t suffering from a shortage of gun control laws.

MCDs are already illegal under federal law. Possessing an unregistered machinegun is a federal crime. Someone willing to illegally acquire and possess one isn’t waiting for another background check, magazine restriction or firearm prohibition before deciding whether to disobey the law.

Washington, meanwhile, already imposes some of the nation’s most restrictive firearm laws on citizens who do obey them. Seattle has layered additional restrictions on lawful firearm businesses and gun owners.

Wilson claims she was unfamiliar with the rapper and his body of work, which raises the question of why she danced with him in the first place. She's the mayor of Seattle. She could have politely demurred, but she didn't, which means she's at least responsible for the message it projected, which was one of support for Y2K's work.

And if she doesn't have someone telling her who these people are at some of these events, the ones who get that close to her, she's an even bigger idiot than I thought.

Meanwhile, her city is suing a gun manufacturer not for their own actions, but the actions of people like Y2K's apparent audience. She's dancing with the face of the actual problem while actively attacking a company that is really just an innocent bystander in all of this.

She's someone who was big in the Defund the Police movement in Seattle, as well. Let that sink in for a moment. Her city government is suing a company for the actions of criminals who do what her dance partner advocates for in his music under the guise of public safety and actively tried to eliminate the police department.

You can't make this crap up.
