Aero Precision Coming Back

Aero Precision was a big enough name in the gun manufacturing space that it's going away made some news. For a lot of people, that was bad news. They liked the company for low-cost AR-15 components. While they weren't the only source for these, more sources mean more competition, and that's generally better for everyone.

But then they went away.

Yes, it was a bummer, but as you've already learned from the headline, they're coming back.

We’re coming back.

The past few years have been challenging. Financial and operational challenges affected our ability to manufacture products, fulfill orders, support our partners, and provide the level of service our customers expect. We know that created frustration, and we sincerely apologize.

To the customers, dealers, distributors, vendors, and industry partners who continued to believe in our brands and stand beside us: thank you.

Now, we get to move forward.

Aero Precision, Ballistic Advantage, Stag Arms, and VG6 are now under new ownership by a passionate family investment group with a long-term commitment to our brands, our people, and our customers. Our new owners are outdoor and firearms enthusiasts, strong supporters of our military and veteran communities, business owners, hardworking, self-made people who are truly salt of the earth. They share many of the same values as the customers and communities our brands serve, including a strong belief in and commitment to the Second Amendment. They believe deeply in what already exists here: incredibly strong brands, proven products, talented people, loyal customers, and state-of-the-art American manufacturing facilities and equipment that are among the most advanced in the industry.

Perhaps most interesting is that they're not pretending they didn't have some issues toward the end there, and they explicitly say later in this press release that they know they have to earn that trust back. That's absolutely correct, but since this is new management that seems passionate about what Aero Precision is supposed to be about, it's very possible they'll do so in short order.

One of the first things on tap is to fill existing backorders, which will go a long way toward establishing that the company is worthy of a second chance as they ramp up manufacturing output to full strength.

They're currently also working to reconnect with vendors and such.

Personally, I'm glad to hear it, but I also want to start hearing from people who got their stuff finally and that it's everything they expected, if not a little more. Once that happens enough, it'll be clear that the company is keeping its word, and then I'll look at their lower receivers again. Until then, I don't expect many people to trip over themselves to add their name to a backlog that's already been there for a while.

Still, I'm a Christian, and I'm supposed to be in the forgiveness business. I suck at it, admittedly, but here, I'm willing to give it a shot once they take care of business.

Then again, they never left me feeling screwed over, so it's probably pretty easy for me to say. For some, it won't be nearly that simple.
