GunTuber Brandon Herrera is currently poised to become the new representative for the 23rd District of Texas. He won't get there without a fight, obviously, and the Left is trying its damnedest to smear him based on edgy humor or comments that they don't really care about; they just think you will.
It hasn't worked.
But Democrats are scared. They saw the district as being in play when Tony Gonzales stepped aside following his... indiscretions. It hasn't worked out that way, though, so while they decry money in politics, Democrats are throwing an awful lot of money around in politics.
Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker is bringing his national political operation to Texas — and Brandon Herrera is one of its first announced targets.
Pritzker’s newly launched Ready for the Fight PAC plans to spend at least $20 million this fall helping Democratic candidates in congressional races around the country, including targeting Herrera with advertising in Texas’ 23rd Congressional District.
The entire $20 million is not earmarked for TX-23. But Herrera’s inclusion among the PAC’s first targets puts the district squarely in Pritzker’s opening push.
For Texas gun owners, Pritzker’s record makes that involvement especially significant.
Pritzker’s Gun-Control Record Meets Stout’s Agenda
Pritzker has spent years signing major gun-control measures in Illinois.
In 2023, he signed the Protect Illinois Communities Act, banning the purchase of many commonly owned semiautomatic firearms Illinois classifies as “assault weapons” and restricting so-called “high-capacity” magazines. Owners who already possessed covered firearms were required to file an endorsement affidavit with the Illinois State Police to continue legally possessing them.
Pritzker previously signed legislation expanding background checks to all gun sales in Illinois and strengthening the state’s FOID system. He later signed the Firearm Industry Responsibility Act, creating new civil-liability provisions affecting firearm manufacturers and sellers.
Herrera’s Democratic opponent, Katy Padilla Stout, supports several of the same types of restrictions.
There's zero doubt that Stout is going to be anti-gun, and there's zero doubt that Herrera will be pro-gun. How pro-gun? He supports everything that has even the whiff of being pro-gun, like national constitutional carry.
He scares the hell out of the anti-gunners because even if he shifted closer to them while he's in office, there's almost no way he could ever get away with suddenly becoming another Tony Gonzales. They know it, and it scares them because they know they can't afford to try and buy him off with donations, and he wouldn't take their money in the first place.
Pritzker is backing Stout purely out of fear of what Congressman Herrera would vote for, as it goes against his controlling, collectivist, anti-gun personality in every conceivable way.
Throwing money into the race, despite ages of Democrats lamenting money in politics until most of the billionaires started siding with them, is desperation.
Because remember, when the NRA donates money, it's buying politicians. When Pritzker does it, it's just public service, even if everything he believes is a violation of the Constitution. That's how it works and how it will always be framed simply because it's only nefarious if it works against them.
