It looks like Stag Arms may be the next manufacturer to turn their backs on the anti-gun Democrats of the Nutmeg State:

Grand Strand economic developers hope to soon learn if another Connecticut gun maker will head to Horry County.

Officials with Stag Arms, which makes AR-15 rifles, visited the Myrtle Beach area in June. The company is eyeing the county as a potential site for a new manufacturing facility.

Local economic developers expect to have a final answer from Stag in the next 60 days, said Brad Lofton, CEO of the Myrtle Beach Regional Economic Development Corporation (EDC)

“We’ve got an offer into them,” he said Wednesday. “They’ve told us they’ll be back to us [in a] Sept. 1 timeframe with questions. So we’re just sort of crossing our fingers and in a holding pattern with them.”

It looks like it will be several weeks before Stag Arms makes an official announcement, but Horry County is one logical option if the company decides to relocate. PTR Industries has already indicated they will leave Connecticut for the same area in South Carolina, taking many of their employees with them. Recreating “Gun Valley” in the southeast probably isn’t the primary goal of any of the northeastern gun companies, though if several manufactures begin to coalesce in one geographic region, it would make sense that the localized pool of specialized skilled labor and suppliers that follows might make the area attractive for other companies considering relocation.
