The Yankee Marshall takes G2 Research to task for the way they are marketing their “Radically Invasive Projectile” (R..I.P.—get it?) machined copper ammunition. I think he makes very valid points, and suspect that R.I.P. will be a self-correcting problem once market forces take hold.
G2 Research is using marketing double-speak to suggest that their attempt at over-priced frangible ammunition is going to successfully rewrite the laws of physics where all previous attempts at making the “last bullet you’ll ever need” have failed.
We know that controlled expansion works, and we’re seeing some interesting preliminary results from copper bullets working off that theory in both hunting and self-defense rounds. Perhaps that is where the future lies.
Fancy jargon, shallow fragmentation, and a narrow primary wound channel created by a core that functions as an underweight wadcutter, however, don’t impress me in the slightest.
