SMOKEY IS THE BANDIT: Concealed Carrier Kills Carjacker Posing As a Cop in Texas

There have been a number of incidents across the nation in the past few years where criminals have claimed to be law enforcement officers in an effort to gain the upper hand in an armed robbery. In most instances, it seem to work… but not for this fake police officer and wannabe truck hijacker in San Antonio, who won’t be robbing anyone ever again.

A man attempting to rob a Wisconsin truck driver who was working a job in San Antonio Thursday night got more than he bargained for after the trucker pulled out his firearm and used it to protect himself, local authorities said.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, Joshua McCann was in town to pick up a motorcycle from a local shop and haul it back to Michigan for a customer. But, when he pulled into the shopping center, a man claiming to be a police officer stopped him and instructed him to get out of the truck.

After exiting, the driver asked to see a badge. The suspect allegedly told McCann that he was going to steal the truck and that’s when the 22-year-old sprang into action.

McCann pulled out his pistol and shot the suspect approximately three times in the abdomen. Responding officers found the suspect sprawled out on the pavement when they arrived. He was taken to University Hospital were he was later pronounced dead.

The shooting took place in front of a number of witnesses, who all corroborated McCann’s versions of events in this clear-cut case of armed self-defense.
