Brady Gets Roasted Over Claims About Home Delivery of Firearms

The gun control group Brady is trying to rally opposition to a proposed rule by the ATF that would allow FFLs to ship firearms directly to customers in the same state instead of having to visit a brick-and-mortar store to complete the transfer.

The anti-gun group, though, is getting roasted and ratioed on X over their bogus characterization of the proposed rule.

As multiple Second Amendment advocates have gleefully pointed out, if the proposed rule takes effect, it would most certainly not be the first time that gun buyers were able to receive their purchases "straight to their doorstep."

Yes, until the Gun Control Act of 1968, firearms could be delivered to your doorstep through the mail. And back then, there were no background checks either. Under the ATF's proposed rule, buyers would still have to prove their identity and pass a background check before their purchase could be shipped to them, and the FFL and buyer would have to be located in the same state in order for the transfer to be legal.

It's also already the case that suppressors can be shipped directly to a buyer's home in the 42 states where they're legal, so this is hardly an unheard of practice, even today.

Suffice to say, though, that most of Brady's supporters are utterly ignorant of current law and the history of gun regulations in this country. Brady is counting on the ignorance of their followers to help spur opposition to the ATF's proposal, and while it's fun to mock them for weaponizing the cluelessness of the average gun control fan, it's even more important that gun owners weigh in on the ATF's proposal as well.

Brady's "take action" link on their website doesn't actually direct anyone to the public comment portal. Instead, the gun control group is using it as a way to add names to their mailing list, which is laughable in its own right.

Don't get me wrong. I'd love for you to sign up for Bearing Arms' daily newsletter, but whether or not you do, it really is crucial that you sound off on the ATF's proposal. You can submit your comment here, but be sure to do so by August 6, which is when the public comment period closes.
