Investigators with Harris County Pct. 4 were on the scene of a reported fatal shooting at a home east of Cypress early Monday.

It was reported around 4:45 a.m. in the 12000 block of Oak Park Drive, not far from Louetta Road and N. Eldridge Parkway.

A homeowner told authorities he went outside and found a man inside his vehicle. The homeowner said he told the man to get out, but the suspect appeared to reach for something.

Deputies said the homeowner feared for his life, opening fire and killing the suspect.

No charges have been filed in the case. As per protocol, the shooting will be referred to a grand jury.

Once again, it’s an honor to write about stories where armed citizens are able to use guns to save their lives. The homeowner shoots only after he recognized a potential deadly threat to himself, and possibly his family. Good to see his control in this obviously nerve-wracking situation.

This is a model example of why we carry every day in every situation – even at home.
