You Won't Believe Who This Gun Control Advocate Said is More Dangerous Than Refugees

Former Arizona Representative and Americans for Responsible Solutions co-founder Gabby Giffords is referencing President Trump’s executive order on immigration to drum up donations and highlight a more dangerous threat to citizens than refugees.

“Let’s put it in perspective,” Giffords wrote in an fundraising email for ARS. “There is a group that has proven itself to be far more deadly on American soil. A group that has killed someone once a week for the last two years: Toddlers.”

“That’s why we’re fighting to ensure guns are kept safe from kids,” Giffords concluded.

OBSERVATION: ARS doesn’t fight to ‘ensure guns are kept safe from kids’ like the firearms industry does, but they do fight to restrict parents’ and citizens’ right to keep and bear arms “for the children”.

“Rarely has such an assault been so disconnected from the threats we truly face,” Giffords said of Trump’s executive order temporarily banning certain refugees from entry into the United States. “The truth is this: In the history of accepting refugees in this country, none has committed a terrorist attack on our soil.”

It takes a special kind of stupid to think toddlers are more dangerous than an unvetted group of individuals that has been known to be a cover for terrorists. Just because it hasn’t happened here yet doesn’t mean we stop being cautious. Look at the November 2015 Paris attacks: it’s easy to say “only four” of the 198 refugees who arrived on the Greek island of Leros that day were terrorists. That may “only be” 2 percent, but that 2 percent carried out an attack that killed 130 people, 89 at the Bataclan theatre alone, and injured another 368 across the city in coordinated terrorist attacks. Mind you, they also carried out these attacks with guns in a country with incredibly strict gun laws.

In an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper Tuesday, Iraqi “Johnny Walker,” Navy SEAL and American Sniper Chris Kyle’s interpreter in Iraq, shared what he thought of Trump’s attempt to secure the country.

“Donald Trump wants to clean up Obama’s trash, chaos and mistakes…just wait a few months, no problem,” he said. “The process is going to take a long time but you know what? It’s worth it. Because you’re coming to the United States. The best country in the world. I waited four, five years to move to the United States. I lost half of my tribe, half of my family, my brother. But you know what? My journey is worth it.”

Know what else is worth a little extra time and attention? Gun safety in the home. With tips and tools from the NSSF’s Project ChildSafe and educational videos from the NRA’s Eddie Eagle Gunsafe Program, there is no one more committed to children’s safety around guns than the firearms industry itself.

So wise up, Giffords: if we can have refugees without domestic terrorism then we can also have guns without declaring toddlers a deadly militia. Try committing yourself to firearms education rather than gun control, it’s called ‘working smarter, not harder’.
