Walking Contradiction: Newtown Action Alliance Reacts to Law Enforcement Couple’s Domestic Violence Killing

Newtown Action Alliance is a gun control group run by Florida-based anti-Second Amendment Jihadist Po Murray. If her name sounds familiar, it’s because she’s the woman behind last year’s successful conspiracy to get the CDC to remove Defensive Gun Use (DGU) statistics from its website.

Like any gun control activist group, Newtown doesn’t hesitate to deceive and dissemble to push their agenda. As recently as August, Newtown Action Alliance repeated a lie that was debunked a long time ago, but has assumed the status of a legend on the gun control side (archived links):

A person or organization whose cause is just and noble could get by with simply telling the truth. Gun control groups know their cause isn’t, so they have to lie their tongues off day in and day out, spread misinformation, collude and conspire behind the scenes to move the ball forward.

Newtown’s mission as stated on their website is, “to achieve the steady and continuous reduction of gun violence through legislative and cultural changes.” Their agenda includes complete gun bans, standard capacity magazine bans, creating an ATF electronic gun owners’ registry, and repealing industry protections against junk criminal misuse lawsuits.

All laws, including gun control laws, come with a bullet with someone’s name written on it. In other words, each gun control law has the potential for the very gun violence that groups like Newtown claim they want to reduce. That’s the nature of government and law enforcement. If you break a law, there will be enforcement actions against you, and the escalation matrix of enforcement ends with lethal force.

The other aspect of the enforcement of gun control laws is who enforces them. Gun controllers assume that the enforcers are inherently trustworthy or are made of a finer clay than the We the Rabble are. We get periodic reminders that’s not the case, like this murder-suicide involving a policeman and his corrections officer wife (archived links):

Madison County corrections officer killed in alleged murder-suicide

HAYWOOD COUNTY, Tenn. — Questions are still surrounding an apparent murder-suicide that left a Shelby County Sheriff’s deputy and a Madison County corrections officer dead in Haywood County Saturday.

Monday, flags at the Madison County Sheriff’s Office were lowered to half staff in honor of Sharon Sangster Lee.

Lee, who was a corrections officer for 12 years, was fatally shot Saturday allegedly by her husband Anthonie Lee, who reportedly took his own life.

Anthonie Lee was a 32 year veteran of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. […]

Deputies responded to the Lee home on TJ Mize Road in Haywood County Saturday night after receiving an ominous call around 10:30 p.m.

“The caller identified herself and stated that Sharon Sangster Lee and Anthonie Lee were having marital problems and that Mr. Lee had pulled a gun on Sharon, his wife,” said Haywood County Sheriff Billy Garrett Jr. […]

Sheriff Garrett said he has no record of any previous domestic related calls to the Lee home.

“Not in the past, but during that day, they were having difficulty,” he said.

This is a complete tragedy. The investigation is still ongoing, so we won’t know details for a while. But that didn’t stop Newtown Action Alliance from pouncing on it right away (archived):

They followed it up with another tweet/post with the hashtags #DomesticViolenceAwarenessMonth and #EndGunViolence. What could have possibly been done here to prevent the tragic killing? There wasn’t any history of prior domestic violence calls to the couple’s house. If the deputy had a prior history of domestic violence, he would have ended up as a prohibited person after the due process of law. But that wasn’t the case here. Is Newtown proposing that law enforcement officers themselves be disarmed at home? Missing in Newtown’s lazy hashtags and rant is the fact that the deputy husband could have just as easily overpowered his wife and beaten her or stabbed her to death.

Newtown Action Alliance’s nonsensical tweet reminds me of the Green Day song Walking Contradiction:

Newtown and Po Murray are caught in Catch-22’s of their own making. They serve logical pretzels, and unfortunately for us, the rank-and-file of the gun control movement happily eat them.
