Gun Control Groups Quiet Over Manhattan Mass Stabbing; Continue Call for "Assault Weapon" Ban

If you look at the Gun Safety Control Groups’ X feeds, a recurrent theme is their posting of past instances of violence on the anniversary of that date, with a vapid virtue signaling tag such as #HonorWithAction. They’ve graduated past their cynical exploitation in the immediate aftermath of a horrific act, with repeating it on anniversaries, expressing a fake concern that’s driven by their totalitarian agenda of citizen disarmament.

They boost each other’s posts in an attempt to create a narrative through repetition. They spread lies and repeat those lies. Their shame is inversely proportional to their scheming.

But when an act of violence involves a different method, they play possum and ignore the story altogether. Consider what happened in Manhattan recently (archived link):

A man has been taken into custody after allegedly killing three people in an apparent unprovoked stabbing spree in Manhattan, authorities said.

Ramon Rivera, an undomiciled man of 51 years old, was charged on Monday with three counts of murder in the first degree, according to the New York Police Department.

The first victim, a 36-year-old man who has been identified as Angel Lata Landi, was fatally stabbed in the abdomen at 8:22 a.m. Monday in an unprovoked attack by the construction site where he was working on West 19th Street, the NYPD said.

About two hours later, a 68-year-old man was fatally stabbed multiple times on East 30th Street, police said. The identity of the deceased has not been released, pending family notification.

The third victim, a 36-year-old woman later identified by police as Wilma Augustin, was picked up around 10:55 a.m. at 42nd Street and First Avenue. She had multiple stab wounds in the chest and arm, and she was taken to New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where she later succumbed to her injuries, officials said.

The 51-year-old suspect -- who was staying at the Bellevue Men's Shelter on East 30th Street -- appeared to pick the victims at random, police said.

“Undomiciled” is the latest Newspeak for homeless, after a brief run of “unhoused.” Most homeless people are not violent, and are often the victims of violence. This man is clearly an exception.

He was apprehended around East 46th Street and 1st Avenue, police said.

"He just walked up to them and began to attack them with the knives," Chief of Detectives Joe Kenny said at a news conference.

New York City makes it exceedingly difficult to own guns. After the Supreme Court’s decision in NYSRPA v. Bruen, Gov. Kathy Hochul and her fellow Democrats passed draconian laws that made large swathes of the City and State off-limits to lawful concealed carriers who have passed the state’s onerous burdens to get a permit.

Disarming good people doesn’t make crooks and crazies behave better, but Hochul doesn’t get that.

The suspect has eight prior arrests, according to law enforcement, and is believed to have severe mental health challenges, Mayor Eric Adams said.

"There’s a real question as to why he was on the street," Adams said.

This is jaw-dropping. It’s incredible that someone with eight prior arrests and known mental health challenges was allowed to be out in the streets. If this man had used a gun instead of a knife, gun control groups would have jumped on it and demanded even more draconian gun control. Their hypocrisy knows no bounds.

When Second Amendment supporters and advocates ask for laws targeting root causes such as mental health, we are instead pandered to with claims about how the public supports “assault weapon” bans.

What I’ve learned from watching their behavior over the past decade or so is that gun control groups have no shame or moral qualms about lying, and they will continue to do so until they get what they want. Fighting them is a daily task, and unfortunately, we won’t have a moment of peace to take a breather.
