The right to keep and bear arms is a natural right, one that exists within each man or woman from the moment of their birth, something that the government cannot rightfully take away. Natural rights are the foundation of all of our civil liberties, something out Founding Fathers believed in highly and, by extension, we should all strive to support and defend.

However, a growing number of people simply have no respect for that right.

While many anti-gunners will argue that they’re not interested in taking away all of our guns or anything, the truth is that a startling number are more than pleased with the idea of gun confiscation.

Despite some calls for 2020 Democratic presidential candidates to scale back on the liberal pandering, a sizable number of party voters back the most leftist of the promises, including “Medicare for all,” gun grabs from those who’ve committed no crime, and a legal open border, according to a new survey.

The latest Zogby Analytics survey, provided to Secrets, also found solid support for slavery reparations to African Americans and the Green New Deal.

The survey was a wide-ranging review of where Democrats stand on key issues and candidates.

The survey found that 36 percent, almost four in 10 Democrats, favor confiscating firearms from people who have committed no crimes at all. In other words, they really do want to come for your guns.

Now, to be fair, Democrats don’t represent a majority of the nation and these particular Democrats don’t represent a majority of their party. So, the percentage of people who will openly support gun confiscation is still fairly small.

But the problem is that this still represents a terrifying position within the Democratic Party, one that it seems few leaders within the party are interested in curtailing. Instead, they’re simply feeding the beast by pandering to them.

My hope is that most non-Democrats, which amounts to the majority of the population, will understand the problems with gun confiscations of any kind, including the high likelihood of civil war. A lot of people have heard the dire warnings, that gun-rights supporters have declared gun confiscations as their line in the sand. They’re not going to just sit idly by and allow law-abiding Americans to be stripped of their constitutionally-protected rights.

I hope a lot of folks who aren’t in that 36 percent see that and understand it.

Unfortunately, we also clearly have a lot of work to do. We need to make it very clear that not only is gun confiscation something that could spark a civil war, it’s also a bad idea all around. We need to remind people of just how important the Second Amendment is to the United States and the American people, even if they don’t particularly like firearms.

Yes, that’s easier said than done, but if it was simple, we wouldn’t be in the mess we’re currently in when it comes to our gun rights, now would we? We need to be cautious, careful, deliberate, and accurate, all so we can undermine the anti-gun nonsense being peddled to the American people. Yes, even to Democrats.
