NJ gun arrests suggest gun control laws aren't working

New Jersey has some of the toughest gun control laws in the nation. That’s an indisputable fact.

It’s also an indisputable fact that gun control advocates believe the laws in place there actually work. We know this for a fact because they keep telling us that these laws keep guns out of the hands of criminals, that bad guys simply can’t buy the weapons.

Which, of course, makes me wonder how in the hell this happened.

According to Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara, Newark police officers recovered six illegal firearms and several decks of heroin following the execution of a search warrant at an East Ward residence resulting in the arrest of Justin White, 25, and Julio Rodriguez, 54, both of Newark, on Tuesday, April 26, 2022.

Police reports show White was arrested after he was located inside a vehicle and found in possession of suspected CDS heroin. Rodriguez was arrested inside a residence he shares with White. There, police confiscated an assault rifle, 12-gauge shotgun, .38-Special revolver, .357 Magnum revolver, .6MM BB gun, and multiple rounds of ammunition. Police also recovered 21 bricks and 41 glassine envelopes of suspected CDS heroin, along with key fobs from a BMW, Land Rover, Bentley and Audi. Each suspect faces federal charges for CDS possession and weapon possession.

No, this simply cannot be.

I mean, gun control stops bad people from getting guns, or so we’re told, and yet here are bad people with guns? UNPOSSIBLE!

There’s no way bad guys can get guns in New Jersey because of the tough gun control laws. There’s just no way.

Unless all of those laws actually do nothing to inhibit criminals from getting firearms.

I mean, I’m just going to put that out there as a possibility. I know, I know, gun control advocates swear otherwise, but then we see guys like this with guns like this–there were seven total people arrested, by the way–and you just have to wonder.

Or, you know, you don’t.

After all, we’ve long known that such laws don’t really do anything to stop criminals. All New Jersey’s laws have done is make life more difficult for the poor schlubs who live there. As I’ve told our own John Petrolino, he should move to a much freer state, like Illinois or Massachusetts.

I joke, but I kind of don’t because those states really aren’t quite as bad as New Jersey, and for what? So bad guys can have guns the law-abiding citizens there are forbidden to own? Really?

That’s what we’re seeing here.

Gun control is like a new Justin Bieber album. To some, it’s one of those things that sounds like a good idea, but not to anyone with any real sense knows better.

New Jersey has gone full-Beliebers on stuff like this.

And just like the fan girls at the concert, they don’t care about reality, only their own fantasies about what will and won’t happen.

Yet as these arrests clearly show, you can dream all you want, it won’t change reality.
