Thief Dead After Tangling With Armed Citizen

While anti-gunners spend millions to try and convince us to give up our right to keep and bear arms, armed citizens are out there every day showing us why we shouldn’t.

We can’t outline them all because, frankly, we don’t have the time. There are just too many of them.

But we do try to acknowledge them when we can.

A prime example is an armed citizen in Dekalb County, Georgia who is still standing while the bad guy isn’t.

A man is dead after wrestling with another man over a gun, DeKalb County officials say.

Police responded to The Terraces at Snapfinger condominiums in Decatur just after 10 p.m. Saturday to a person shot call.

When police arrived, they found a 19-year-old who had been shot. He died on the scene, according to police.

So he wasn’t just a thief but an attempted gun thief.

Here’s the deal, though. When someone is trying to steal your gun from you when it’s in your physical possession, there’s absolutely no reason to believe that they won’t use it on you as soon as they have control of it.

Georgia is a Stand Your Ground state, but that wouldn’t matter in a case like this. Escape isn’t an option when you’re in a physical altercation with the bad guy.

Officials say they don’t expect to file charges against the armed citizen, which is how it should be.

Look, in a perfect world, this wouldn’t happen. People wouldn’t steal things, especially guns. Unfortunately, we don’t live in that world. We’re stuck with this one.

That means criminals will look to prey on people who they think they can prey upon. If behooves people to become armed citizens.

This is not a property crime, folks. This wasn’t a “if this matters more than someone’s life” kind of thing. This was literally the armed citizen or the thief. That’s what was on the docket and, thankfully, the good guy with a gun was victorious.

If we see enough stories like these and if they were publicized enough, we might start to see even more of a dip in violent crime than we’ve been seeing over the last couple of years from the peak in 2020.

The truth is that bad guys don’t want to die any more than the rest of us. If they know they’re risking their lives with some of this stuff, they’ll simply stop doing it.

It won’t necessarily make it so they start walking the straight and narrow path, but it will push them toward crimes that don’t involve the potential of hurting law-abiding citizens. If that way leads to armed citizens and getting shot, it won’t be worth it to them.

Of course, there are those who will undoubtedly think this armed citizen is out of line. We know this because this is what happened to Kyle Rittenhouse and they thought he was out of line.

For those people, there’s really no help to be given. For those who can learn, they should, because guns save lives.
