Tucker Fires Back Over AI-Generated Anti-Gun Letter to Kamala Harris

I hate calling it AI, primarily because it's not. At least it's not what I grew up thinking of AI as. The software we currently refer to as artificial intelligence does a lot of interesting thing, though.

One thing it can do is allow people to make fake whatever pretty easily. I've seen some doozies and I hear there are far darker examples in some parts of the internet's nether regions, in places even 4Chan users won't go.

But Vice President Kamala Harris's campaign apparently tried to get cute.

After Vice President Kamala Harris set “Tucker” trending, gaslighting over gun control, the commentator came back with his own “Letter from a fan.”

The chronically online Democratic Party nominee’s avoidance of unscripted appearances and publicly declaring policy positions didn’t stop her campaign from leaning hard on two of the left’s base desires — abortion and gun-grabbing.

In pushing the latter, the vice president’s official X account shared a letter late Tuesday attributed to “Tucker” that set off fraud alarms for some and AI alarms for others as the implication appeared to be that Tucker Carlson was behind the correspondence.

“Tucker, thank you for writing to me. While we may not agree on every issue, we both know that every person in our nation should have the freedom to live safe from gun violence,” Harris captioned the post. “The majority of Americans stand with us in support of commonsense gun safety legislation.”

“In the spirit of establishing common ground, even though I am fairly conservative and we may have our disagreement, I am writing to express my gratitude for your’s and President Biden’s efforts to establish common sense gun safety laws,” the letter read in part as it rattled off “age restriction, background checks, and mental health screenings.”

The X post:

There's just one problem. It's clear that Tucker Carlson wrote no such letter.

First, there's the fact that the signature doesn't look a thing like his, meaning that it's a hoax no matter who wrote it.

However, the language used in the letter has turned out to be...not what was claimed.

So 100 percent AI-generated. That's impressive because I've run AI-generated stuff through the checker and I almost never get a 100 percent response. It's usually in the 90s, instead.

Well, two can play that game.

I'm sorry, that's just funny. Every "i" dotted with a heart just makes it that much more hilarious.

I'm sorry, but this is really pathetic. First, Tucker Carlson is influential, but if he came out for gun control tomorrow, it wouldn't suddenly make gun rights supporters decide to vote for Kamala Harris. It's really more telling of how the Harris campaign views their own supporters. They're used to lemmings and figure that's what everyone else's supporters are like.

Moreover, this fixation on guns ignores the massive numbers of illegal immigrants coming across our border, at least some of which are causing problems for good, decent, law-abiding people. It ignores the terribly economy that has many people scrambling for ways to buy groceries, particularly if they want to maintain their quality of life. It ignores the very real problems this country has, many of which play more of a role in violent crime than firearms ever could.

And then to stoop to something like this...

Absolutely pathetic.
