BREAKING: At Least 7 Stabbed in Brooklyn

Plenty of people say that without guns, we won't see "mass shootings," which is kind of a tautology. Yes, if guns disappeared entirely, then you wouldn't have mass shootings, but you haven't solved the underlying problems.

In essence, while mass shootings might not exist, other forms of attack would still be possible.

And, unfortunately, we got a real glimpse at what that would look like in the New York City burrough of Brooklyn.

The FDNY says one person has died and at least six others were taken to hospitals following a reported stabbing in Bensonhurst.

Police responded to a 911 call at 1673 84th Street around 10:15 a.m. and confirmed that a police-involved shooting investigation is underway.

In short, the suspect stabbed seven kids, ages eight to 16, then the police ended the threat by shooting the attacker. It seems the one fatality being reported was the attacker, though the small handful of reports on the subject at this time are lacking in specifics.

This seems to be a domestic violence situation, but it doesn't really matter to me simply because anyone who would hurt a child deserves whatever happens to them from then on.

Being given hollow-point therapy is just fine with me.

We do not know how severe the injuries are, though. Everyone could potentially make a full recovery and it be no big deal. However, based on this post on X, I'm skeptical the injuries could, in any way, be considered "minor."

This is vile.

It's absolutely vile.

If the only fatality turns out to be the attacker, then it's better than it could be, but I just can't comprehend the kind of evil that leads anyone to do anything like this.

Take away guns, and we can see that broken people will still commit atrocities simply because they're broken.

"But Tom, it would have been worse if he'd had a gun," someone might say, and I'll point out that we don't know that. The anti-gunners' beloved Gun Violence Archive won't count this incident, but it counts plenty of "mass shootings" that don't even have as many people injured as this horrific incident.

As for this situation, the fact that this appears to have happened in someone's home means the potential targets of violence were contained, but it also means they were limited in number. The attacker couldn't go around stabbing people for miles on end before the police could find him and light him up as he so richly deserved.

Honestly, this is just disturbing to me, just like when I've covered mass shootings over my time at this site. To me, it makes no difference what weapon is used; the idea of hurting people like this will never sit well with me.

But I'll try to continue following this so that we know more about what happened.

I will say, though, that I've never seen a better reason for concealed carry in New York City than I do right this very minute.
