Bad Idea: Would-be Robber Brings a Knife to a Gun Fight

It’s never wise to bring a knife to a gunfight but that’s exactly what 27-year-old Joseph Vincent Eldringhoff did.

Armed with nothing more than a “large steak knife,” Eldringhoff attempted to rob a Kansas liquor store but his efforts were quickly thwarted when the store owner pulled out his handgun. The business owner held Eldringhoff at gunpoint until police arrived.

According to The Topeka Capital-Journal, Cpl. Chris Sturgeon said the owner exercised good judgment and de-escalated a potentially volatile situation.

More proof that a firearm in the hands of a “good guy” can be used not only to stop crime, but also to save lives. In this case, not even a single shot had to be fired to accomplish both.
