Texas Man Protects Family From Ax-Wielding Assailant

A man in Montgomery County, Texas, shot and killed a man who approached his home and threatened his family with an ax. The assailant had been involved in an altercation nearby and parked his car in front of the family’s home. Here’s the story:

MONTGOMERY COUNTY , Texas—A man who threatened a homeowner with an ax in front of a woman and several children Friday night was shot and killed, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

It happened in the 16200 block of Suzanne around 11:30 p.m.

According to deputies, a 40-year-old man was involved in some sort of disturbance at another residence then drove his pickup truck through a yard and parked in front of the homeowner’s place. That is when he pulled an ax out of the truck and went to confront the homeowner.

The homeowner’s wife and several children, all under the age of 10, were around.

Feeling threatened, the homeowner retrieved a gun and opened fire, shooting the man in the chest, deputies said.

MCHD and North Montgomery County Fire Department responded to the scene. The man was transported to Conroe Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

No charges have been filed against the homeowner.
