We're constantly told that we, as law-abiding gun owners, need to jump through more and more hoops to own a firearm, all because of criminal acts. We're not the ones breaking the law, of course, but that doesn't seem to matter. We need to have to get permits just to buy guns, have licenses just to own what we already bought, and countless other obstacles, all in the name of supposedly addressing crime.
But hey, these laws keep criminals from getting guns, right?
I mean, if everyone has to do this, there's no chance of bad guys getting them right?
The third time was the charm Sunday, as police arrested four juveniles after the teens crashed a stolen vehicle into an Eastgate warehouse and took several firearms.
Lt. Scott Blankenship of the Union Township police said officers were called around 6:10 a.m. after an alarm went off at the Sportsman's Warehouse on Eastgate Drive.
All four of the suspects are facing multiple charges, including theft of firearms from a federally licensed firearms dealer, he said in a Facebook post.
Blankenship said similar offenses have occurred in other areas such as Newtown, Northern Kentucky, and Miami Township. He added that the suspects arrested Monday are believed to be linked to the other break-ins.
But this was the third stop for the would-be gun thieves on Sunday, according to Newtown Police Chief Tom Synan. He says the subsequent investigation showed the teens tried to steal weapons from two other gun shops Sunday morning before landing in Union Township.
All told, there have been at least five attempted or successful break-ins to gun shops in the region in the past two weeks.
All that and they didn't get a single NICS check or fill out a single 4473.
Shocking.
Of course, this is how most criminals get their guns. They either steal them themselves or they obtain a stolen gun via a black market dealer. Their entire supply chain exists completely outside of the law, so how are new gun control measures going to do much of anything?
These are teens. We know this because none of them were identified. That's not what happens when adults are arrested, so these are kids who couldn't get a gun lawfully if their lives depended on it.
And yet, they figured they could steal them. They were clearly successful a couple of times already.
None of the gun control laws on the books anywhere did anything to stop them. More laws would have done just as little.
Why is that so hard for some people to get it through their thick heads?
It's no wonder that so many people on our side of things simply can't take the arguments for gun control at face value and figure there's something else going on, that it's all a play to disarm us completely and totally. Yes, I've figured that they won't stop with the current set of proposals, nor the next one, nor any others until they have them all, but I tend to think a lot of those folks really don't want a total gun ban and won't until that's all that's left. They just don't realize they lack a line in the sand.
But I'm starting to question that stance, in part because we have so many stories like this, yet the same dipsticks continue to push this idea that gun control will disarm gun thieves somehow. It's insane.
