The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is gearing up for the New England Firearms Advocacy Conference. These are great events for meeting others who are working to defend our right to keep and bear arms, but some people want a little more than just a networking opportunity. They want names. They want to meet people they've only seen from afar.
So, the CCRKBA is clearly trying to do that. In fact, they've named a notable speaker who will be at the event, and for fans of YouTube gun channels, Flannel Daddy himself will be there.
From a press release:
The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is pleased to announce that Michael Jones — AKA “Garand Thumb” — will be one of the featured speakers of the New England Firearms Advocacy Conference.
The New England Firearms Advocacy Conference will be held Saturday, May 30 in Chicopee, Mass. at Castle of Knights, 1599 Memorial Dr.
Jones is a former member of the U.S. Airforce, firearms enthusiast, and YouTuber who focuses on reviews, tactical gear, shooting sports, and the military. Hailing from the Pacific Northwest, Jones is sympathetic to the plight of many New England gun owners and what they have to deal with in hostile-to-the-Second Amendment jurisdictions.
“We’re delighted to have Mike Jones join us as one of our notable speakers for our inaugural FAC event,” conference chair and CCRKBA Director Holly Sullivan said. “On the 250th anniversary of our country, we return to Massachusetts where it all started for a different kind of battle — one of public policy and preservation of rights. We are thrilled to have Mike by our side in this fight."
“As we bring on a new era of advocacy and rights preservation at the Committee, it’s inspiring to collaborate with some of the biggest personalities in Second Amendment new media,” CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb said. “We welcome Garand Thumb to the family and look forward to working with him for years to come.”
The full lineup of speakers for the New England FAC is being finalized and Northeast advocates are not going to want to miss this event. The cost to attend the conference is $25.00 and includes a one-year membership to CCRKBA.

Garand Thumb was one of the first "guntube" channels I ever subscribed to. He's done some cool videos over the years, and his background is one that many other guntubers, including some of my favorites, lack. It doesn't inherently make him better, mind you, but it's there. And the fact that he's entertaining--and looks way too much like Travis Haley for my comfort--has helped his channel grow.
From what I've seen of him, he's also a firm defender of the right to keep and bear arms, and his presence at the FAC is just more evidence of that. Not every person who fills part of the veteran space is necessarily pro-gun, even if they're on YouTube running and gunning in tactical gear for the fans. It's easy not to be any such thing.
He apparently is, which is awesome.
Unfortunately, I won't get to be there. However, a lot of other people will be, and if you can, I'd strongly advise you to go and get to know people. Make connections. Make friends. Find your people, those who will stand with you in defending our right to keep and bear arms, all so our children may enjoy a free society than we're seeing disappear in so many other places.
